  • In January 2015, jalopnik.com reported Elon confirmed the $35k price was before any tax incentives.  He was also quoted as saying "[The Model 3] will be way different from any other car on the road," says Musk. But, "in a way that's really useful and just doesn't feel like a weird-mobile."
  • In 2014, Elon was quoted as saying the Model E (now 3) will be 20% smaller than the S (source).
  • Tesla had planned to call its next car the Model E. Musk liked the idea of selling three cars with the model names S, E, and X - but that ended when Ford threatened legal action.
